Although I can't abide spiders, I bought this not-so-mini because it looks cool and is something different to paint. I picked it up during my last visit to Brookhurst Hobbies, about a week before we left California. I actually bought quite a few figures during that visit, but the majority of them are in storage.

Argamite Explorer (and another zombie)
I bought this odd little chap as part of a bigger Reaper order back in February this year. He appealed to me for the usual "doesn't look like anything I've painted so far" reason, and I thought he'd be fun to paint. Despite this mini being sold since 2019, I can't find any painted examples of him on the interwebs, not even on Reaper's forum, and I have no idea what "Argamite" refers to. I've named him Ixlr.

Lockdown Unit Challenge part 1
With my Slaanesh warband project progressing nicely and loads of time on my hands, you'd think I'd be churning out painted minis. Nope. We all have our slumps, and I'm no exception. Then Dave over at Wargame Sculptors decided to announce a Lockdown Challenge: paint a unit of troops, in any genre, and it gave me the kick in the backside I needed to hit the paints again.

Hans, Post Apocalyptic Survivor
My post-apocalyptic/zombie survivors usually come in groups of four, but Hans is such a badass that I decided to post him on his own. This decision has nothing to do with the fact that I don't have three other survivor figures right now, oh no.

Zombies: Sarge
"Zombies (2)". That's Reaper's imaginative name for the pack of two minis I got at Brookhurst Hobbies back in August. As you might have guessed, there are two zombies in this pack, but I just painted one as the other has a ton of flash on it and I just couldn't be bothered.

A Vamp for Vampifan
It's always a shock to hear of someone who's blog you've been reading on and off has died, and reading the final post of Vampifan — aka Bryan Scott — is an awful experience. Bryan was a horror fan, a prolific blogger for 11 years and loved miniatures, both painting them and playing games with them.

Slaanesh Warband: Chaos Thugs 2
Back when I started this Slaanesh warband project I ordered all the figures off one Ebay seller, and she was kind enough to chuck in a few free ones, including two Chaos thugs. They were the first warband minis I painted and I really enjoyed them. I didn't think I'd get any more thugs until I was stupid enough to go on Ebay last month.

Sinspawn
According to the Pathfinder Wiki, sinspawn are "emaciated horrors with unnaturally long arms and legs". I didn't know that when I saw it on the rack of Reaper minis at Brookhurst Hobbies back in August, only that it looks creepy and cool.

On hiatus
With our move to New England only 11 days(!) away, I've packed away all my figures/paints/basing stuff and all the other accoutrements of the hobby. The boxes above contain all my brushes and paints along with a bunch of unpainted minis, bases, superglue and everything else I'll need to get some painting done once we're there.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the display case, here's Simon the shark. Sorry, zombie shark.

Urban Zombies 2
I'm not sure why these are called Urban Zombies as they look like they're from the Victorian era. Whatevs. It took me a while to like these enough to buy them as I've never been a fan of zombies with weapons. But during a undead-buying spree back in February I decided to splash out on them, and for once it wasn't to get free shipping.

Summer of Scenery: Warhammer Cottage 2 — I seem to have made some progress
As we all know, Rome wasn't built in a day. It would have been, only they were waiting for the undercoat to dry. And the troll to bugger off.

Tinley, Female Wizard
Tinley wears all black all the time, listens to Disintegration* on repeat and decorates her bedroom with Sisters of Mercy posters. She really wishes she was called Isobel but her mum still calls her Tinley.

Sister Hazel, Plague Nurse
If anyone can think of a more apt mini to paint at this point in time, I'd love to hear it. Maybe a Plaguebearer wearing a MAGA hat?

Harwood Hobbies makes four Changed figures, so today's mystery is "why did I only buy three of them?" Answers on a postcard, please.

Devil Girl, Supervillain
Devil Girl is from Reaper's range of superheroes/supervillains. She was an impulse buy as I thought the figure was really cool.

With all the zombie hunter posts I've been doing, I thought it was about time I posted some of the zombies they're hunting.

Girls with guns 2
My first Girls With Guns post had a bit of a theme, as all the minis were from one company (Hasslefree) and were all from its futuristic soldier line. This time we have three minis from three different companies in three different genres.

Slaanesh warband: Uden the Sinner, Chaos Sorcerer
Uden the Sinner sighed, the sound like the last breath of a dying man issuing from his golden helm. Behind their angled slits his eyes glowed an eldritch green.
"No, mortal," he said to the cowering girl. "That is very wrong." Holding up his Icon of Chaos, its metallic sheen reflected in the girl's terrified eyes, Uden moved closer to her cringing form.
"I distinctly remember asking for nonfat milk in my latte, and this appears to be full cream."

Monster Month: Dark Young
I'm taking part in Monster Month, a painting challenge set by Keith over at Dead Dick’s Tavern and Temporary Lodging. There's no prize, it's just a bit of fun open to miniature painters and bloggers.
