Some more scenery

As well as painting figures, setting up Zombietown and fannying about with a lightbox, I also got around to some more scenery pieces: three shipping containers and another billboard. 

Welcome to Zombietown

Foxtrot, Edna, Tony and Rhianna take cover behind the barricades as a swarm of zombies heads down Main Street. They're the last line of defence against the undead horde.

La Petite Sourie

Pam fends off a couple of zees outside the French cafe on the high street. Thoughts of delicate pastries and strong coffee briefly flit across her mind before she shakes them off and raises her pistol.

Underwurlde

As the zombies close in and Earl discovers he's out of ammo, he thinks back to those Friday night 40K games and finally knows how his Blood Angels felt when they were overrun by poxwalkers.   

Dogs Trust

Dr Zander holds a couple of zombies at bay outside the local charity shop. Ironically it's where he picked up his cool leather coat last year.

The Chronicle

A couple of advertising executives, now reduced to mindlessly moaning zombies, wander endlessly around the newspaper building while doing nothing and being a pain in the arse... so no change there.

Two new buildings!

Yesterday I turned 50, so after waking up and commiserating with myself I got on with the standard birthday stuff: doing the dishes. Yay. Then I finally got to open my pressies from Alicia, and I was a happy bunny.

Jersey barriers and a Lambo

Earl, Calvin and Lazarus take shelter behind some concrete barriers and get ready to fend off the zombies heading their way. Edna is there for moral support and cats.

Random scenery

After finishing my new building I got into a bit of a scenery kick and knocked out these Reaper models over the past few days. They were relatively straightforward thanks to the magic of spray paint.

New store 3: Finished!

Carol pauses between zombie kills to check out the local record store. She's miffed that the cigarette machine doesn't work, and she'd give the manager a piece of her mind if a zombie hadn't already eaten a piece of his.

New store 2: Progress!

After two days in the mudroom the texture paint was completely dry, and better yet it had stopped stinking the place up. It was brought into the warmth of the spare room to be painted while the detail bits were drying in the garage after being sprayed with grey primer.

Opening a new store

Not literally, obviously. I'm terrible with budgets and maths leaves me in a cold sweat. I'm so bad at it that if you asked me to pick a number I'd probably say "X".  I resat my GCSE Maths four times and got a solid D every time, so at least I'm consistently crap. If I ever actually opened a shop I'd be bankrupt by lunchtime on the first day. 

Angels of Sorrow

The angel statues outside the abandoned crypt seem to be in slightly different positions and poses every time you see them, but that's just your imagination, right? Right?

Great Obelisk of C'thulhu

In the middle of a dark, forbidding forest, a stone obelisk has stood for as long as locals can remember. They speak of it in hushed tones and outsiders are advised to keep away from it. But some adventurous types believe there is a copy of the Necronomicon on its base, and have gone in search of the obelisk to secure the tome and its powers. The forest has quietly absorbed them.

Apocalypse Me: An in-tents experience

A couple of zombies stagger past an abandoned tent on a patch of wasteground behind the inevitable convenience store. The decomposing body of its owner lies outside, oblivious to the shambling undead.

Edna waves her deadly walking stick as the zombie hoard makes its way around an abandoned car behind the convenience store.

Season of Scenery: Billboard

One great thing about this build was that I barely used any actual model paint; it was mostly done with craft paints. I have to admit that I used to look down on cheap acrylics, but for doing large bits of scenery they're excellent, especially at 55 cents a bottle rather than the usual $3.50 for a pot of Vallejo. Anyway, here we go.
