Fembruary: Natalia, Female Secret Agent

Movie star Cerise Jørgensen was dressed as her character Natalia Smirnoff for a photoshoot to publicize the new superhero movie Onyx Dowager when a passerby took a bite out of her hairdresser. Since then she's survived with the help of her acrobatic skills and a gun she found next to a dead cop.

Natalia is pretty obviously Reaper's version of Marvel's Black Widow, and I've scrolled past her several times while buying stuff on Amazon. I didn't think a superhero would fit into a zombie apocalypse, but I realised I could get her into my collection by having her be an actress dressed as a superhero. And with that, Cerise Jørgensen and Onyx Dowager were born.

She was a straightforward paintjob; Black all over, with Dark Sea Blue to highlight it and a coat of Blue Tone to blend in the highlights and add a bit of a sheen. To introduce some colour I did her belts and pouches Chocolate and Orange browns. The thing around her thigh (I have no idea what it is) is Averland Sunset, highlighted with Lemon Yellow.

Nat is my second redhead in a row after Pandora, and I used the same paints: Wild Rider Red highlights over a Cavalry Red base. As usual her skin is my own mix, shaded with Reikland Fleshshade. For once I got the eyes right the first time.

The only thing I don't like is the fact she's sculpted running away from something; she'd have looked better looking forward, pointing her gun ahead of her. Still, she's a cool mini and is an interesting addition to my ranks of zombie survivors.

Progress is going OK on the new buildings, although I lost a day when our power went out Friday and we were left in the dark with no water and no heat. Yay. A post on them will be coming soon.

  1. Great work on your not black widow Matt, have no idea what it is on her thigh either I'm afraid ! LOL
Great back story on why she is dressed as a superhero during a zombie apocalypse.

    1. Thanks, Dave! Once I'd come up with her backstory I had to have her in my collection.

  2. Another Reaper miniature I need to add to my Want List, Matt. Excellent work on 'not-Natasha'. That thing on her thigh would appear to be her 'spider' utility belt - as worn around her waist during her classic black costume days. I guess they sculpted it around her leg though, as she already has a leather one around her waist and it looks sort of cool..?

    1. Ah, that's what it is? I assume they didn't want to rip off a Marvel character too much lol. She's a great figure (and has a great figure) so pick her up!

Being a superhero figure, I of course, have never heard of her, but she's superbly painted !

    1. Cheers, Joe! I usually mix Dark Prussian Blue into the black to give it some depth and tone, but forgot this time so that explains the wash with Blue Tone.

  4. Sounds like a handy house generator might need to be added to the wishlist for the future?

The black looks dead good! The blue as highlights works way better than when I’ve attempted the same idea in the past. And those eyes… perfect

    1. Alicia's mum told us to get a generator when we moved to Vermont, but did we listen? LOL! Cheers, Dai, and the eyes worked really well.

  5. I love the way you've done the black. The Dark Sea Blue highlights it really well - I've just added it to my basket😁
Nice story too - I see what you've done with the names, clever you😉

    1. Thanks, Justin! Dark Sea Blue is perfect for highlighting black clothing, especially leather. Once I had the actress story in my head it was just a case of coming up with the names, which proved to be pretty easy :-)

  6. I've paused over that figure a few times myself though haven't "pulled the trigger" yet 😉.

You've done a bang up job with eh painting of her too mate, and I love the reworked names and backstory 😁.

    Cheers Roger.

  7. What caused the power outage? Cold weather? Ice? Either way, that is a real bummer! I had to go a week once here in Chicago without hot water and it was brutal! I'm glad that everything is back up and running now. The mini looks great and I snickered at the backstory for this lass. Very well done, mate! :D

    1. Cheers, Jeff! We're pretty sure that ice brought the power lines down, and it affected pretty much the whole town we live in. It was off from 1am to 6pm, so it was basically a day down the drain as it was bloody freezing. Still, we survived! Glad you like the mini and her backstory :-)

  8. "Onyx Dowager." Good one, buddy. I've seen this miniature a million times, but I never saw her as the Black Widow until you did this. Great work.

And get a bloody generator. You aren't in Wales anymore.
