Goblin bolt throwa

When I spotted this little bit of awesomeness on Etsy, I had to have it.

Despite these guys not being Night Goblins, it's still a great little model and it's incredibly Oldhammer. I'm sure I saw something very much like this in an old edition of White Dwarf, but so far I've failed to find an image on the Google.

The throwa comes with three gobbos or three orcs, and I went with goblins because of course I would. The throwa was glued to a 60mm base, each gobbo was blu-tacked to a 32mm base, and then everything was primed black.

I painted the bolt throwa first, giving it a basecoat of German Black-Brown and then drybrushed it with Flat Earth and Old Wood. It was shaded with Agrax Earthshade and then gave it another good drybrushing with more Old Wood.

All the metal bits were given a coat of Ironbreaker because I couldn't find my pot of Iron Warriors, and darkened with Nuln Oil.

The face — which I'm assuming is an Evil Sunz reference — was based with Wazdakka Red, shaded with Beserker Bloodshade and highlighted with Flat Red, Vermilion and Wild Rider Orange. Of course, none of those details are showing up in my crappy photos. I did the teeth with Khaki, Ivory and Off-White, and the pointy bolt head sticking through its gob is more Ironbreaker.

All three gobbos were painted in my usual way, kicking off with Waaagh Flesh washed with Athonian Camoshade and highlighted with Death Guard and a little bit of Ogryn Camo.

I painted the read areas of clothes the same way as the face of the throwa and their teeth and nails with dots of Morghast Bone. The spotter gobbo's telescope is Old Wood shaded with Agrax Earthshade and a dab of Stormhost Silver for the lens.

After giving all the figures a coat of matte varnish, I slathered the base with Stirland Battlemire and once dry it was drybrushed with Earth and some Light Tan. I glued the gobbos to the base and then added the tufts, and after painting the base rim it was done!

I have to say, this was a nice straightforward project to paint after all the details I've been slogging through on my Nurgle and Slaanesh figures. Of course that hasn't stopped me buying Nurgle and Slaanesh figures, oh no.

Stay tuned for more! Oh, and I absolutely have some entries for this year's Season of Scenery that are almost finished and should be posted soon.
